Multiple Intellegences
I took the quiz on Edutopia that determines your learning style as compared to Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. There are eight different intelligences according to Gardner. I scored highest in Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, Naturalistic, and Verbal-Linguistic. The results are pretty close to what I thought they would be. I feel that I am very observant of other people and try to analyze their lives as well as my own. I love to be outdoors and am interested in nature. I often feel as if I would have been more successful in school if I would have received an education that taught to my intellegences.

Teaching
I was taught solely in a lecture format unless the course involved a lab. There was usually a text book that had been passed through several hands over the years already and we were instructed to read passages and later do homework, take tests and pass quizzes. This type of format (teacher directed) did not make school or learning, a pleasurable experience. I only later began to start enjoying school when I began to take charge of my own learning and study subjects that I enjoyed and were interested in and become more active and hands on in my learning. This is the format in which I want to teach my students. I want what they are learning to apply to their daily lives and for them to have experiences, make mistakes and problem solve. I want school to be enjoyable and interactive. This is the way I would like to run my classroom.
